OUR HISTORY

The recognized leader in wood office furniture, Kimball Office has been designing and manufacturing office furniture for more than 30 years. Kimball Office is a business unit of Kimball International, a billion dollar publicly held company.

Founded by Arnold F. Habig in 1950, Kimball International was once a small contract furniture manufacturer called The Jasper Corporation. Located in the southern Indiana town of Jasper, the company began as a contract manufacturer of residential furniture and television cabinets. In 1959, the W.W. Kimball Company, a century-old piano maker, was purchased from the last remaining Kimball family heir by The Jasper Corporation. In 1970 the company began manufacturing office furniture under the Kimball name and quickly achieved success in the marketplace, building a reputation for fine craftsmanship, high-quality products and quick delivery.

In July 1974, The Jasper Corporation changed its name to Kimball International. The company made its IPO of 500,000 shares of common stock in September 1976, becoming a publicly-held company. Today, Kimball International is a $1.2 billion global corporation, operating in 14 U.S. states and in 5 countries, including the U.S., Mexico, Poland, Thailand, and China.

Kimball Office is a leading supplier of high quality office furniture products to Federal, state, local and municipal government agencies. Kimball Office currently holds Federal GSA contracts and a number of individual state and local buying agreements covering a wide range of systems, seating and executive office products.
