Meals on Wheels San Diego County plays a vital role in supporting the health, independence, and connection of seniors across the region. When the pandemic dramatically increased demand for meal delivery and support services, the organization quickly outgrew its existing headquarters. The space was fragmented and outdated, making collaboration difficult and limiting the team’s ability to work efficiently at a time when clarity, connection, and adaptability mattered most.

Recognizing that temporary fixes would not support their long-term mission, Meals on Wheels San Diego County took the opportunity to fully reimagine their workplace. The goal was to create a headquarters that could better support staff well-being, streamline daily operations, welcome donors and community partners, and scale with the organization as it continued to grow.

Parron Hall partnered with the project team to help translate this vision into a functional, people-centered workplace. Through close collaboration with the design team and Allsteel, we provided strategic guidance on space planning and furniture solutions that aligned with how the organization works. Our focus was on creating an environment that supports both collaboration and focused work while reinforcing the heart of Meals on Wheels’ mission.

Furniture selections were intentionally chosen to improve workflow, comfort, and flexibility. Ergonomic workstations and supportive seating enhance daily productivity, while adaptable benching systems allow teams to easily collaborate and adjust as needs evolve. Thoughtfully planned layouts reduce fragmentation and improve connectivity across departments, helping staff move through their day more efficiently and with greater ease.

The completed headquarters now reflects the values and purpose of Meals on Wheels San Diego County in both function and experience. The space supports the important work happening within it, provides staff with a healthier and more welcoming environment, and positions the organization for continued growth and impact. With a workplace designed around people and performance, Meals on Wheels is better equipped to serve the community today and well into the future.
